NREMT Practice Quizzes: Beginner, Intermediate, and Full Mock Exams

Good practice starts at the right level. This page organizes our NREMT practice quizzes into beginner, intermediate, and full mock exams, so you can start where your preparation actually is and move up as your results improve. Our questions are organized around the five EMT content domains NREMT introduced in April 2025.

There are nine quizzes in total, ranging from 30 to 100 questions. Six are free today and three are premium, as listed below. For a full explanation of the exam format and scoring, see our NREMT practice test overview.

Beginner Quizzes: Check Your Basics

The beginner quizzes are the best starting point if you are early in your EMT course, returning after a break, or want a baseline before you commit to a study plan. Beginner Quiz 1 and Beginner Quiz 2 have 30 questions each, and Beginner Quiz 3 has 40. All three are free.

After each one, write down which domain your missed questions belong to. That list tells you what to study next, which is more useful than the score alone.

Intermediate Quizzes: Raise the Difficulty

Move up to the intermediate level once you are scoring steadily on the beginner sets. Intermediate Quiz 1 and Intermediate Quiz 2 have 40 questions each and are free. Intermediate Quiz 3 adds 50 more questions with premium access.

Use these quizzes to check whether the topics you reviewed after your beginner results have actually stuck.

Full Mock Exams: Practice Pacing and Stamina

The full mock exams are the longest quizzes on the site. Full Mock Exam 1 has 70 questions and is free. Full Mock Exam 2 has 70 questions and Full Mock Exam 3 has 100, and both are premium.

These mocks have a fixed length, so they do not behave exactly like the real exam. According to NREMT’s EMT test plan, the EMT exam is adaptive and delivers 70 to 120 items, 10 of them unscored pilot items, within 2 hours. It can end early once the computer is 95% confident of a pass or fail decision.

Use the mocks to practice pacing and endurance. At the 120-item maximum, 2 hours works out to an average of one minute per item, so practice reading carefully, choosing an answer, and moving on. Treat a mock score as a signal about your preparation, not a prediction of your result.

Domain Quizzes: Fix Specific Weak Spots

When your results point to one weak domain, targeted practice is faster than another full mock. NREMT weights the domains differently: Primary Assessment is 39 to 43 percent of the exam, Patient Treatment and Transport 20 to 24 percent, Scene Size-Up and Safety 15 to 19 percent, Operations 10 to 14 percent, and Secondary Assessment 5 to 9 percent. A weak result in a heavily weighted domain affects more of the exam than one in a lightly weighted domain, so prioritize accordingly.

Domain-focused quizzes are part of our premium library.

How to Use These Quizzes

A simple routine works better than taking quizzes at random:

  1. Take Beginner Quiz 1 to set a baseline, and review every question you missed.
  2. Sort your misses by domain, then review that domain in the study guide and the free starter deck on the flashcards page, which has 30 key terms per domain.
  3. Retake the next level when your results are steady, moving from beginner to intermediate to the mock exams.
  4. As your exam date approaches, take a full mock in a single sitting to practice pacing.

What Is Free and What Is Premium

The free quizzes today are Beginner Quizzes 1 to 3, Intermediate Quizzes 1 and 2, and Full Mock Exam 1, which adds up to 250 questions. Premium adds Intermediate Quiz 3, Full Mock Exams 2 and 3, and the domain quiz library.

You can compare plans on the pricing page, and the premium dashboard saves your quiz history so you can see your results over time.

How These Quizzes Differ From the Real Exam

Our quizzes use four-option multiple-choice questions. NREMT’s test plan says the real exam also includes multiple-response, options-table, build-list, and drag-and-drop items, and NREMT publishes official EMT sample items so you can practice those formats.

Our questions are practice items, not real exam questions. This site is independent and not affiliated with NREMT, which does not recommend any particular exam preparation materials. Practice improves preparation but cannot guarantee a result.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which NREMT practice quiz should I take first?

Start with Beginner Quiz 1 to get a baseline. If your exam date is close and you are already comfortable with the basics, try Full Mock Exam 1 to check your pacing.

How many NREMT practice questions are free?

The free quizzes currently total 250 questions: Beginner Quizzes 1 and 2 (30 each), Beginner Quiz 3 (40), Intermediate Quizzes 1 and 2 (40 each), and Full Mock Exam 1 (70).

Are the full mock exams the same as the real NREMT exam?

No. Our mock exams have a fixed number of four-option multiple-choice questions. The real EMT exam is adaptive, delivers 70 to 120 items including 10 unscored pilot items, and allows 2 hours.

How many questions are on the real NREMT EMT exam?

The EMT cognitive exam delivers between 70 and 120 items, including 10 unscored pilot items. It can end early once the computer is 95% confident whether you are above or below the passing standard.

Are these questions from the real NREMT exam?

No. They are practice items written for study. This site is independent and not affiliated with NREMT, and NREMT does not recommend any particular exam preparation materials.
